गोंडल (गुजरात)। इंद्रदेव की बेरूखी से आम-खास हर वर्ग का चिंतित होना लाजिमी है। चौतरफा कमजोर मानसून की चिंता के बीच गुजरात में बारिश करवाने के लिए एक समझौता (एमओयू) हुआ है। समझौता पूर्व केन्द्रीय मंत्री व गुजरात गौ-सेवा आयोग चेयरमेन डॉ. वल्लभभाई कथीरिया व अन्य ने शोधकर्ता के साथ किया है।


तद्नुसार शोधकर्ता राजकोट जिले में 10 दिन में 10 इंच बारिश करवाएगा। वह ऐसा करने में सफल रहा तो उसे निजी स्तर पर समझौता करने वाले पक्षकारों की ओर से 50 लाख रुपए की जाएगी। शोधकर्ता मोहनभाई वेकरिया ने 12 साल मेहनत कर ’मेघराज रैन मेकर’ नामक मशीन बनाई है।


हालांकि उन्होंने मशीन के मिकैनिज्म का ब्यौरा देने से इंकार कर दिया। उन्होंने कहा कि यह जैविक पद्घति पर चलने वाली मशीन है। शोधकर्ता से समझौता करने वाले पक्षकारों ने गुरुवार दोपहर तीन बजे मशीन को स्टार्ट कर दिया। अब 48 घंटे अर्थात शनिवार दोपहर तीन बजे के बाद कभी भी राजकोट में घनघोर बारिश शुरू हो जाएगी। शोधकर्ता का दावा है कि एक बार बारिश आरंभ होने पर जब तक मशीन बंद नहीं की जाएगी बारिश का क्रम जारी रहेगा।

The 400-year old tradition of Rapa das Bestas, which translates as ‘cropping the beasts’, sees locals attempt to wrestle wild horses to the ground, before cropping their manes.   

The horses come from the mountains of Galicia, in the northwestern region of Spain, and are rounded up so that the locals can clip their manes and tails and brand the foals.

World’s First Solar Plant That Generates Power at Night Opens in Spain

The new Gemasolar Power Plant near Seville in southern Spain is the world’s first solar plant to have the capacity to generate electricity even at night. More than 2600 concentrically arranged mirrors spread across 185 hectares of rural land concentrate solar energy towards a centrally located molten nitrate salt tank. As the rays converge, they super-heat the salt to over 900C, causing water around the tank to boil and drive steam turbines. In addition, any superfluous heat generated during the day is stored within the liquefied salt. It acts like a giant thermal battery for driving the turbines at night and during overcast days up to 15 hours at a time with no sunlight. But Seville, being one of the sunniest areas in Europe, this doesn’t happen very often.

हिन्दु देवी 'काली मां' के नाम की बीयर

नई दिल्ली| अमेरिका में एक बीयर का नाम हिन्दू देवी काली के नाम पर 'काली मां' रखे जाने का मुद्दा मंगलवार को राज्यसभा में उठा। भारतीय जनता पार्टी (भाजपा) के सांसदों ने यह मुद्दा उठाते हुए सरकार से भारत में अमेरिका की राजदूत को तलब करने की मांग की। बर्नसाइड ब्रीविंग कम्पनी की बीयर के बोतलों पर देवी की फोटो भी लगाई गई है।

इसे हिन्दुओं की धार्मिक भावनाएं आहत करने वाला करार देते हुए भाजपा सांसद रविशंकर प्रसाद ने कहा, "संयुक्त प्रगतिशील गठबंधन (संप्रग) सरकार अमेरिका के साथ अच्छे सम्बंध होने का दावा करती है.. क्या वहां निर्माण के लिए कोई संहिता नहीं है।"

शून्यकाल में यह मुद्दा उठाते हुए प्रसाद ने कहा, "क्या वे किसी अन्य धर्म के देवी-देवता के साथ इस तरह का बर्ताव कर सकते हैं?"

भाजपा के सदस्यों ने सरकार से इस मुद्दे पर तुरंत अमेरिकी राजदूत को तलब करने की मांग की।

जवाब में केंद्रीय संसदीय कार्य राज्य मंत्री राजीव शुक्ला ने कहा कि वह इस बारे में जल्द से जल्द विदेश मंत्री एस. एम. कृष्णा को बताएंगे।

जिसे समझा था पहाड़, वो निकला हजारों साल पुराना पिरामिड

बोस्निया के विसोसिका में एक पुराना पिरामिड है। पहले इसे पहाड़ समझा जाता था। अक्टूबर 2005 में बोस्निया में रहने वाले अमेरिकी खोजकर्ता सेमिर उस्मनाजिक ने ये सनसनीखेज घोषणा की थी कि ये पहाड़ दरअसल मानवनिर्मित पिरामिड है। यह विशाल पिरामिड पिछले आइसऐज के दौरान करीब 12 हजार साल पहले बनाया गया था। पहाड़ में बनी 3.8 किलोमीटर लंबी सुरंग से यह खुलासा हुआ था। इसका नाम पिरामिड ऑफ सन रखा गया है। 

सैटेलाइट फोटोग्राफ और थर्मल इमेजिंग से पता चला कि विसोसिका हिल्स में दो छोटे पिरामिड हैं। माना जाता है कि ये सुरंग इन तक पहुंचती होगी। रिसर्च से यहां करीब सात हजार साल पुरानी सभ्यता के सबूत मिले। जर्मनी के एक पुरातत्व शास्त्री ने यहां से नवपाषण युग के 24 हजार अवशेष तलाशे थे। पिरामिड ऑफ सन गिजा के पिरामिड से भी ऊंचा है। यहां पर कुछ और प्राचीन निर्माणों के अवशेष भी मिले। 

चर्चा में आने के बाद दुनियाभर के पुरातत्व शास्त्री यहां रिसर्च के लिए आने लगे। ज्यादातर का मानना था कि ये मध्यकालीन युग के रोमन लोगों का काम होगा। यूरोपियन एसोसिएशन ऑफ आर्किओलॉजिस्ट के अध्यक्ष प्रोफेसर एंथनी हार्डिग ने भी यहां रिसर्च की और कहा कि ये पहाड़ प्राकृतिक रूप से बना है। आइसऐज के दौरान जो लोग यहां रहते थे, उनके पास इसे बनाने के न साधन थे और न ही कारण था। 

2007 में मिस्र के पिरामिड विशेषज्ञ नबील मोहम्मद ने इस पर रिसर्च की थी। उन्होंने भी इसके मानव निर्मित होने की संभावना को खारिज नहीं किया है।

Internet addiction linked to brain changes

 

Similar to alcohol and drug addiction  

 

Teenagers who are addicted to the internet show signs of brain changes similar to those who are addicted to alcohol and drugs, a study suggests.

Chinese researchers used MRI scans to look at the brain structure of 17 young people with "internet addiction disorder" attending the Shanghai Mental Health Centre and compared them with those of 16 healthy volunteers. 

In the internet-addicted teens, the scans showed changes to the white matter fibres which connect the regions of the brain involved in emotional processing, attention and decision-making.

Other research has found similar white matter changes in the brains of people addicted to alcohol,  cocaine, cannabis and other drugs.

The researchers, led by Dr Hao Lei from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, wrote in the journal Plos One: "The findings suggest that white matter integrity may serve as a potential new treatment target in internet addiction disorder."

However, the study findings cannot say whether internet addiction causes the brain changes seen in the study. Some people may already have brains which make them more likely to become addicts.

Commenting on the study, Dr Henrietta Bowden-Jones, a consultant psychiatrist at Imperial College London, said: "This type of research exploring the differences between normal brains of people who suffer from internet addictions is groundbreaking, as it makes clear neuroimaging links between internet addiction and other addictions such as alcohol, cocaine and cannabis among others.

"We are finally being told what clinicians suspected for some time now, that white matter abnormalities in the orbito-frontal cortex and other truly significant brain areas are present not only in addictions where substances are involved but also in behavioural ones such as internet addiction."
