Get Over Acne

Who else remembers middle school as the best time of their life? Oh, no one… Middle school was filled with bad decisions and fluctuating hormones. Acne didn’t help. Acne is a health problem effecting thousands of young adults and can be quite a problem.
There are a few solutions to acne whether it be a facial scrub or a more serious solutions involving a dermatologist. I was lucky enough to never have bad acne and a facial scrub a few times a week will keep my face pretty clear. I also wash my pillow cases multiple times a week. I don’t know the science behind it, but this has had some of the best results. [Via

Mammoths Doomed by Hunting

Mammoths Doomed by Hunting

The question at the heart of an age-old murder mystery: Who or what killed off the mammoths?
A new study has found that overhunting by our ancestors, coupled with a sharp cooling event around 12,900 years ago, may have led to the mammoth’s demise. Sounds a lot like the fate of the bison just without all of the Ice Age factor to the story…

reduce your risk of Heart Disease & Stroke

Between 1950 and 2000, the death rate from heart disease in the United States plummeted nearly 70 percent, and the death rate from stroke nearly 80 percent. However, although we’re dying of heart attack and stroke less often, we’re still getting cardiovascular disease just as often. In fact, some factors that put us at risk, such as obesity and diabetes, have become more common.

We’re dying less often because of the technological and pharmacological advances of modern medicine. But is your idea of a healthy future being pulled back from the brink by bypass surgery? Needing a personal secretary to keep track of your medications? Better living through angioplasty?

We thought not. Far preferable is avoiding cardiovascular disease altogether. It can take some work to convert a high risk for heart disease into a low risk. But we’re here to tell you that it can be done! You know the mission we’re on: putting the power of stealth at the service of your health. Add up these small changes to your daily routine, and you’ve got a powerful dose of heart disease prevention — no coronary care units or intra-aortic balloon pumps required!

Happy, Smiling Animals

These cackling creatures look like they’re having such a laugh we only wish they’d let us in on the joke.
Even the tiniest little fish appears to have a funny bone as his eyes light up with glee. The wise old owl - not known for his sense of humour - looks like he's having a hoot.
Sometimes it’s the little things in life that make us smile, and this chuckling duckling proves the rule applies even when you are one of the little things.
Owls have been let in on the joke too, twit-twoo-hooing at the punch line...

WHO WAS ST. PATRICK?

How to celebrate St. Patrick's Day in the United States: Cover yourself in green (bonus points for shamrocks), put a smiling leprechaun cut-out on your front door, head to your local "Irish Pub" after work, get rowdy and wasted.
How to celebrate St. Patrick's Day in England: Eh, maybe pop down to the local pub for a nice pint.

MYSTERIOUS DARK-SKINNED STONE AGE PEOPLE FOUND

The venison-loving Red Deer Cave People had an unusual mix of primitive and modern features.

THE GIST
  • Fossils from two China caves have revealed a previously unknown Stone Age people.
  • The mysterious humans, called the Red Deer Cave people, had a mix of primitive and modern features.
  • The Red Deer Cave people may represent a new hominid species.
A newly found Stone Age people featured darker skin, an unusual mix of primitive and modern features and had a strong taste for venison.
Red Deer Cave People
Remains of possibly four individuals of the so-called "Red Deer Cave People" were unearthed in southwest China and may represent a new species of human.
The fossils from two caves, date to just 14,500 to 11,500 years ago. Until now, no hominid remains younger than 100,000 years old have been found in mainland East Asia resembling any other species than our own.
"We have discovered a new population of prehistoric humans whose skulls are an unusual mosaic of primitive, modern and unique features -- like nothing we've seen before," said Darren Curnoe, associate professor in the School of Biological, Earth & Environmental Sciences at the University of New South Wales and lead author of a study about the find in the journal PLoS One.
