Outdoor theaters were very popular in the Middle East prior to 

the introduction of air-conditioning. The humid Summer heat in Mesopotamia 

often exceeded 120°F.The 1952 directory of Baghdad, lists the following

 Open Air,or Outdoor theaters:al-Firdaws, al-Kahira, Rashid St., al-Rafaidin,

 Bab al-Shaikh, al-Sharq, King Ghazi St., al-Taj, Bab al-Sharqi.
