Mercedes-Benz attempts to make an invisible car

Automakers are engaged in a constant struggle to get their products noticed. From clever advertising to sneaky movie deals and wild stunts, putting a vehicle in front of the public is the first step toward wrangling better sales figures. Mercedes-Benz recently took a different approach for the upcoming hydrogen fuel cell vehicle, the F-Cell. While the company rolled out a special version of the car in front of the public, it did its best to hide the hatchback behind a veil of special LED matting. The LEDs were paired to a Canon 5D Mark II on the other side of the car, which supplied video.

As a result, the LEDs project an image of what's on the other side of the vehicle, making the F-Cell effectively invisible. Why hide a new car behind a curtain of techno wizardry? We can’t please everybody

An old fable that has been passed down for generations tells about an elderly man who was traveling with a boy and a donkey. As they walked through a village, the man was leading the donkey and the boy was walking behind.

The townspeople said the old man was a fool for not riding, so to please them he climbed up on the animal’s back. When they came to the next village, the people said the old man was cruel to let the child walk while he enjoyed the ride. So, to please them, he got off and set the boy on the animal’s back and continued on his way.

In the third village, people accused the child of being lazy for making the old man walk, and the suggestion was made that they both ride. So the man climbed on and they set off again.

शबरी-नारायण

रायपुर। छत्तीसगढ़ राज्य के चंपा-जांजगीर जिले में महानदी, जोंक नदी और शिवनदी के त्रिवेणी संगम पर शिवरी नारायण कस्बा स्थित है, जिसे भारत की तीर्थनगरी प्रयाग जैसी मान्यता प्राप्त है। कहा जाता है कि यहां भगवान श्रीराम का नारायणी रूप आज भी गुप्त रूप से विराजमान है।
   
इस कस्बे का उल्लेख सभी युगों में मिलता है, जिस कारण यह स्थल सतयुग में बैकुंठपुर, त्रेतायुग में रामपुर और द्वापर युग में विष्णुपुर और कलयुग में शिवरी नारायणपुर कहलाया।
 
वहीं रामायणकाल में इस स्थान पर मतंग ऋषि का आश्रम था, जहां पर श्रीराम की परम भक्त माता शबरी उनके दर्शन के लिए व्याकुल थीं। सीता की खोज में श्रीराम व लक्ष्मण का इस क्षेत्र में आगमन हुआ था और माता शबरी को दर्शन दिए।
 
जब माता शबरी ने अपने भगवान को साक्षात देखा तो उनकी आंखों में आंसू झलक आए और वह उनकी आवभगत में लग गई। उन्हें कुछ समझ ही नहीं आ रहा था कि वह बैकुंठलोक के स्वामी का किस तरह स्वागत करें। 
 
शबरी ने बेर लेकर श्रीराम को दिए, लेकिन भगवान राम कहीं खट्टे बेर न खा लें इसलिए शबरी ने सारे बेर खुद चखकर राम को दिए। भगवान राम ने भी शबरी के आगढ़ प्रेम को समझकर सारे झूठे बेर खा लिए।
 
इस प्रसंग को लेकर इस स्थान को शबरी-नारायण कहा जाने लगा। बाद में यह बिगड़कर शिवरीनारायण कहलाने लगा। वहीं प्राचीन काल में यहां खर-दूषण राक्षसों का राज था, जो श्रीराम के हाथों वीरगति को प्राप्त हुए इसलिए यह नगर खरौद भी कहलाया।

सुल्ताना के डूबने के कारणों पर आज भी रहस्य का पर्दा

21 अप्रैल 1865 के दिन कैप्टन जेसी मेसन की कमांड में अमेरिका का स्टीमर जहाज एसएस सुल्ताना न्यू ऑर्लीन्स से विक्सबर्ग के लिए निकला था। जहाज पर सवार 100 लोगों के अलावा, 100 शूकर, 60 खच्चर और 100 पीपे शकर मौजूद थी। जहाज का एक बॉयलर लीक कर रहा था। विक्सबर्ग में बॉयलर बनाने वाले आरजी टेलर ने मेसन से कहा था कि बॉयलर की दो मेटर शीट्स बदली जाएं। बॉयलर को सुधारने में तीन दिन का वक्त लग जाता। इसलिए मेसन ने वक्त बचाने के लिए उस पर सिर्फ पेबंद लगा दिया था। यहां मेसन ने जहाज पर सैनिकों के फुल लोड की मांग की जिसे सैन्य अधिकारियों ने मान लिया।
 
24 अप्रैल को जहाज विक्सबर्ग से आगे सफर पर निकला। जहाज की क्षमता सिर्फ 376 यात्रियों की थी लेकिन इस पर 2100 सैनिक, करीब 200 आम नागरिक और ढेर सारा माल लदा था। जहाज पर उसकी क्षमता से छह गुना ज्यादा लोड था। 26 अप्रैल को सुल्ताना मेंफेसिस पहुंच गया। यहां पर कुछ माल उतारा गया। फिर जहाज ने कोयला खरीदने के लिए मिसिसिपी नदी पार की। नदी में बाढ़ की वजह से बहाव तेज था और पानी का स्तर भी बढ़ा हुआ था। 

रात दो बजे के करीब सुल्ताना ने पैडी हेन और चिक आईलैंड पार कर लिया था। ये मेंफेसिस से आठ मील उत्तर में है। इसके बाद उसका कम से कम एक बॉयलर फटा था। धमाके से उड़े लोहे और लकड़ी के टुकड़ों से मुख्य डेक पर मौजूद बहुत से सैनिक घायल हो गए थे। बॉयलर से निकली भाप से बचने के लिए लोग इस हिस्से से दूर भागने लगे। धमाके से हवा में उछले लोग कुछ जहाज पर कुछ पानी में गिरे। घबराहट में लोग पानी में भी कूदे। जिन्हें तैरना नहीं आता था वे भी कूद गए। इसके बाद जहाज डूबने लगा। 

इसके 90 मिनट बाद बोस्टोनिया सेकंड जहाज मेंफेसिस की तरफ जा रहा था, वह डूबे हुए लोगों को बचाने आ गया। 590 से 760 लोगों के बचाए जाने के अलग-अलग दावे किए जाते हैं। इनमें से भी दो-तीन सौ की जख्मों के कारण मौत हो गई थी। सैकड़ों लोगों के शव कभी नहीं मिले, इनमें कैप्टन मेसन भी थे। बॉयलर फटने की घटना की जांच हुई। सेना और आरजी टेलर एक दूसरे पर अंगुली उठाते रहे लेकिन कारण पता नहीं चला। 1888 में सेंट लुइस के विलियम स्ट्रीटर ने बताया कि उनके एक साथी ने मरते वक्त दिए गए बयान में जहाज डुबाने की जिम्मेदारी ली थी। इस तरह यह राज और ज्यादा गहरा गया था।
