| Giant sequoias are the world's largest trees by volume. They are simply impossible to miss, and show us how big a life form can grow on our world. They grow to an average height of 50–85 m (160–279 ft) and 6–8 m (20–26 ft) in diameter. Record trees have been measured to be 94.8 m (311 ft) in height and over 17 m (56 ft) in diameter. Bottle Tree
Location: Namibia
The Bottle tree of Namibia is one of the most deadly trees on Earth. The milky sap of the plant is very poisonous and was used as arrow poison by bushmen in the past. The Bottle tree is so-called due to the shape of its stem and it usually grows in mountainous regions, which gives it a striking appearance in the deserts of Namibia. The Bottle tree’s flowers have been described as ‘beautiful’ and they are usually pink or white and dark red towards the center.

Dramatic photos show the measure of a man in contrast to the enormity of nature.
A series of photos from the Humboldt State University Library capture lumberjacks working among the redwoods in Humboldt County, California.
The photos are part of the Ericson Collection, a series of pictures from northwest California from the 1880s through the 1920s by Swedish photographer A.W. Ericson.
Pictures from the 1915-era display the work of loggers in the densely forested northern California area, that accounts for twenty per cent of the state's total forest production.
Humboldt County has nearly 1,500,000 acres in public and private forests, including the Redwood National and State Parks.

कुछ लोगों का मानना है कि इस पेड़ के तनों पर किसी ने इन कलाकृतियों को गढ़ा है। उनका मानना है कि यह कोई चमत्कार नहीं है। वहीं बहुतयात लोगों का मानना है कि यह अनोखी प्रजाति का पेड़ है। जो कि पूरी दुनिय़ा में इकलौता है। चमत्कार और वास्तविकता के बीच बहस जारी है।

Rainbow Eucalyptus–The Most Colorful Tree on Earth
These trees may look like they've been painted on, but these colors are all natural. This peculiar tree is called Eucalyptus deglupta, commonly known as the Rainbow Eucalyptus, and also known as the Mindanao Gum, or the Rainbow Gum. The multi-coloured streaks on its trunk comes from patches of outer bark that are shed annually at different times, showing the bright-green inner bark. This then darkens and matures to give blue, purple, orange and then maroon tones.
Eucalyptus deglupta is the only Eucalyptus species found naturally in the Northern Hemisphere. It grows naturally in New Britain, New Guinea, Ceram, Sulawesi and Mindanao. Now, this tree is cultivated widely around the world, mainly for pulpwood used in making paper, and also for ornamental purposes.
The Trees Of Terror
These terrifying trees are unlikely to attract children keen on climbing them.
With its haunting frame and looming arms, one particular beech looks like it has just leapt out of a set for the smash-hit movie Lord Of The Rings.
The spooky specimen, suspected to be an oak, was spotted by Charlotte Laurie on a quiet country lane at Boxted, near Colchester, Essex.

Artist Laurie, known as Busky, spotted the monstrous tree and said it appeared to be marching across fields to terrorise the roads.
Busky, 84, who lives nearby, said: ‘It looks like a really grumpy old woman.
‘It’s a wonderful thing to look at. The head is down and the arms are stretched out, it’s a wonderfully old tree.
‘But I’m not quite as old as the tree!’
If the ghost-like shape of the tree was not spooky enough, Miss Laurie said her neighbour often spots a small owl on it on her way home from work.
The Hammer Horrors tree, which sits on Sky Hall Hill, is not the only terrifying tower of timber in the area.

A gruesome tree in the grounds of Stowlangtoft Hall, near Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, became an overnight sensation last summer. The tree’s gargoyle-like features were snapped by David Garnham and the 70ft beech quickly made national headlines.
He believes the bizarre tree - which also appears to have a twisted tongue forking from its mouth - shares an uncanny resemblance with Edward Munch's classic Scream painting.
Mr Garnham, a maintenance technician, said: 'I was going to get it blown up to A3 and donate it to the residential home but you can just imagine one of the old ladies waking up and thinking 'the Grim Reaper's come for me'.
'It really does show nature's true beauty and also says a lot about what the imagination can conjure up.
'It's a bit like the enchanted forest - where it moves towards you but stops when you look at it. I can't imagine too many children wanting to go climbing up that tree.
'I've called the photo 'Nature's Scream' because I think it does have an uncanny resemblance to Edvard Munch's classic work.
'I've known about it for a while but when I was taking my mother to work the other day, I pulled over and took a photograph of it.
'In the light of the day it looks peculiar but it came out on the photograph even better - its like a gargoyle and really is twisted into an incredible form.'
