Steve Mills

Born in in 1959 in Boston, MA, photorealist oil painter Steve Mills sold his first drawing at the age of 11 

and has been selling ever since. Every child drew when young, though Mills requested a pencil over crayons 

to get better detail. 

This fascination with detail became his calling card. Influenced by the works of Andrew Wyeth, 

his early paintings consisted mostly of landscapes. After seeing the work of Richard Estes 

at a show in Boston, MA, Photorealism became his passion. 

Today his interests are somewhat varied though his main focus is on the “extraordinarily-ordinary”.

Let’s take a look at the works of some of the world’s greatest photorealism 

masters – Roberto Bernardi, Steve Mills and Erich Christensen. 

Forget about Photoshop, Maya or 3Ds Max –these guys have gone the old school way.

Roberto Bernardi was born in Todi on the 18th of May 1974. 

He started to paint at a very young age and his first works in oils 

date back to the first half of the eighties. 

After an initial foray with landscapes and portraits, Bernardi turned towards 

a more intense and spectacular type of painting; photorealism. 

In this style Bernardi is most comfortable expressing his creativity while satisfying 

his perfectionist technical goals. 

He applies layers of oil paint and varnish in the traditional manner to a totally modern image, 

creating a wholly contemporary, unique kind of image.

यह शख्स सांपों और कीड़ों के साथ ऐसा खेलता है मानो उन्हीं के परिवार का सदस्य है। जब यह अपना हैरतअंगेज खेल दिखा रहा होता है तो सामने वाले कभी-कभी अपनी आंखें बंद कर लेते हैं, लेकिन इनके चेहरे पर शिकन भी नहीं होती है। जी हां, हम बात कर रहे हैं तमिल-तेलुगु फिल्मों के जान-माने अभिनेता सी मनोहरन के बारे में। इन्हें नाग मनु भी कहा जाता है। 
 
बताते चलें कि मनोहरन के नाम गिनिज़ बुक ऑफ वर्ल्ड रिकॉर्ड दर्ज है। दिसंबर, 2006 में 25 साल की उम्र में इन्होंने 30 सेकंड के अंदर करीब 200 केंचुओं और छिपकली को खा लिया था। ऐसा करने वाले यह पूरी दुनिया में इकलौते शख्स थे।
 
13 साल की उम्र से ही सांपों और कीड़ों-मकोड़ों के साथ खेल दिखाने वाले मनोहरन अपनी मुंह में साप को डाल कर नाक से निकाल लेते हैं। सांपों के साथ इस तरह के हैरतअंगेज खेल दिखाने में इनको महारत हासिल है। 
 
तस्करी का आरोप
 
गिनिज़ बुक ऑफ वर्ल्ड रिकॉर्ड में अपना नाम दर्ज करा चुके मनोहरन अपनी करतूतों की वजह से पुलिस के भी हत्थे चढ़ चुके हैं। दिल्ली पुलिस ने दुर्लभ प्रजाति के सांप और मगरमच्छ के बच्चों की तस्करी के आरोप में उन्हें गिरफ्तार किया था।

हजारों साल पुराना रहस्य, पूजा ख़त्म होते ही बरसती है 'आग'

मैंगलोर। कर्नाटक के मैंगलोर में देवी को खुश करने के लिए जलती मशालों से जंग लड़ने की एक अजीबोगरीब परंपरा निभाई जाती है। मैंगलोर के कटील में मौजूद प्रसिद्ध दुर्गा परमेश्वरी मंदिर में आस्था के नाम पर आग से खेलने का दिल दहला देने वाला खेल खेला जाता है। यहां आठ दिनों तक यह सालाना उत्सव चलता है।
 
इलाके के लोगों के मुताबिक ये परंपरा सदियों से चली आ रही है। "अग्नि केलि" नाम का ये खेल दो गांव के लोगों के बीच खेला जाता है। सबसे पहले देवी की शोभा यात्रा निकाली जाती है इसके बाद पास ही में बने तालाब में डुबकी लगाने के बाद दो गांव आतुर और कलत्तुर के लोग दो गुटों में बंट जाते हैं और अपने अपने हाथों में नारियल की छाल से बनी मशाल लेकर एक दूसरे के विरोध में खड़े हो जाते हैं।
 
मशालों को जलाया जाता है और फिर शुरू हो जाता है जलती मशालों को एक-दूसरे पर फेंकने का खेल। ये खतरनाक खेल करीब 15 मिनट तक खेला जाता है। इस दौरान एक शख्स को सिर्फ पांच बार जलती मशाल फेंकने की इजाजत होती है। इसके बाद वो इस मशाल को बुझाकर वहां से हट जाता है 
 
मंदिर के पुजारी का कहना है क‍ि यह परंपरा सदियों पुरानी है, और सिर्फ कोदेथुर और अथूर गाव के लोग इसमें शामिल होते है। इस भयानक अग्नि खेल के पीछे दुर्गा जी को प्रसन्‍न करने का तर्क दिया जाता है्। इसमें वहीं आदमी भाग लेते है जो आर्थिक या शारीरिक किसी परेशानी में होते है। यह अग्नि उत्‍सव आठ दिनों तक चलता है। इस दौरान यहां पर मांस और मदिरा का सेवन एकदम बंद हो जाता है।

Adorable Giant Panda

The panda, also known as the giant panda to distinguish it from the unrelated red panda, is a bear native to central-western and south western China. It is easily recognized by its large, distinctive black patches around the eyes, over the ears, and across its round body. Though it belongs to the order Carnivora, the panda’s diet is 99% bamboo. Pandas in the wild will occasionally eat other grasses, wild tubers, or even meat in the form of birds, rodents or carrion. In captivity they may receive honey, eggs, fish, yams, shrub leaves, oranges, or bananas along with specially prepared food.
