Unusual Collections Of The World Of The Celebreties

When money is no object, it’s no wonder that these rich and sometimes weird celebrities start to desire the more unusual, and unobtainable items that most of us would not make room for in our homes or lives, and frankly just wouldn’t know where to find. So if insects, knives or bird skeletons seem like your kind of antique collecting, then maybe give one of these guys a call, they’re clearly in the know when it comes to crazy collecting. So please enjoy our run down of the craziest collections of the celebrity world.

Kiefer Sutherland – Gibson Guitars

At last count, Kiefer Sutherland‘s collection was around the 38 mark, which by anyone’s standard is fairly excessive. They’re all housed at the studio he set up to help and encourage young people to get into music and start playing. His love for guitar was fuelled by hearing the likes of Jimmy Page and Angus Young when he was a mere sprog, before The Lost Boys even, and since then he’s never looked back. Kiefer loves to play, but classes himself as a music appreciator rather than a musician. This didn’t stop the famous guitar manufacturer from creating a signature Gibson in his honor. Seriously.

Angelina Jolie – Antique Knives

Angelina Jolie is a known antique knife collector, and it looks like she intends to pass this trait on to her children; in an interview for W Magazine, Angelina Jolie revealed that she has already purchased her son Maddox his first knife. She also has an interest in mortuary science and always wanted to be a vampire and so has a collection of vampire books.

Quentin Tarantino – TV Show-Themed Board Games

Movie director Quentin Tarantino collects old board games relating to TV shows like “I Dream of Jeannie” (1965), “The Dukes of Hazzard” (1979), and “The A-Team” (1983).

Tom Hanks – Typewriters

That Forrest Gump guy, Tom Hanks, can’t say no to a manual typewriter and will pay a fortune to have them shipped from just about anywhere in the world. “I bought a $5 typewriter from Australia that cost me $85 to ship,” he says. He’s had to make room over the years for 150 typewriters, ranging from anything built in the 1930s until they stopped making them. Hanks says he fell in love with them because “if you write somebody a note with a typewriter it is as permanent and will last as long as though you chiseled it in stone.”

Rod Stewart – Model Trains

Rocker Rod Stewart told Model Railroader magazine that when he’s on tour, he always asks for a table backstage so he can work on model buildings for his miniature railroad. That’s a good way to fill (or kill) downtime while on tour. He also rates himself as a “good” model builder. Stewart owns a 1500 square-foot model train display, too.

Nicole Kidman – Judean Coins

When not acting or playing Nintendo (another of her favorite pastimes), superstar and all-around Oscar darling Nicole Kidman is a numismatist and likes to do a little collecting in the way of ancient Judean coins.

John Travolta- Aircraft

John Travolta’s home near Ocala, Florida is part house and part airport terminal — literally. Travolta is an avid aviator, and his aircraft collection includes a pristine Boeing 707 that he’s restored in the livery of a vintage Quantas Airliner.

Dan Aykroyd- Badges

Comedian and actor Dan Aykroyd has a thing for badges and just about anything to do with them. The Saturday Night Live star carries a badge with him at all times and has said his ultimate fantasy is to commit a crime and arrest himself for it. The police buff, who also played Sgt. Joe Friday in Dragnet, not only rides an Ontario Provincial Police motorcycle, collects police badges, and occasionally rides shotgun with detectives in squad cars, he also holds an advisory commission with the police force in Payne City, Georgia.

Johnny Depp- Pigeon Skeletons

Johnny Depp has played some bizarre characters, but his collections may even be more bizarre. Besides collections of bats and insects he’s also into pigeon skeletons. Other items you’ll find at the Depp abode are the bladed limbs from the movie Edward Scissorhands and personal items of the late author Jack Kerouac. Besides Kerouac’s original manuscripts, Depp also owns two of Kerouac’s jackets, letters written by Kerouac and the author’s suitcase. He’s reported as having paid $15,000+ for the author’s shabby raincoat.

Claudia Schiffer – Insects

Claudia Schiffer collects insects but her collection isn’t the creepiest, crawliest we found. Claudia Schiffer gets that award. She not only collects mounted insects—she’s also into insect paintings.

Britney Spears- Antique Dolls

Britney Spears collects antique dolls as a hobby. Like Britney Spears, Demi Moore is obsessed with collecting porcelain dolls.

Brad Pitt – Metal Art

Brad Pitt‘s particular specialty seems to be metal art, in particular functional metal art pieces. In fact he’s big on art in general, once turning up at a gallery in Basel, Switzerland to shell out the best part of $1 million on a rainbow-colored racetrack painting entitled Etappe by Neo Rauch.

Ronnie Wood- Stamps

Ronnie Wood the lead guitarist of The Rolling Stones took up stamp collecting as he gave up alcohol and found life boring. Ronnie Wood is set to fascinated by stamp collecting and is building up an impressive collection of rare stamps.
