THESE are the gruesome first pictures of the man who had his face chewed off by a crazed “zombie” cannibal.

Homeless Ronald Poppo survived the attack and is now walking and talking - but doctors have said he will remain in hospital to have his face reconstructed.
Druggie Rudy Eugene began gnawing him next to a main road in Miami last month before being shot dead by a policeman.
The attack has left his nose missing and the upper portion of his face covered in scabs and grafts.
Poppo, 65, has had his left eye removed but doctors hope to restore vision in the remaining one. The resilient victim has previously survived being shot.
Trauma surgeon Nicholas Namias said: “He’s pleased to report to all of you that he’s feeling well, he’s eating, he’s walking around with physical therapy, he’s talking with us.”

He was shot dead after growling at a police officer and refusing to stop ripping at Poppo’s face with his mouth.

It is still unclear why Eugene, 31, attacked him. Those who called police reported seeing him swinging naked from a street lamp minutes earlier.
